Perrysburg Fire places 2nd in Maumee extrication event

A couple of weeks ago a group of Perrysburg Firefighters took part in a safety event at the Andersons in Maumee. The event was to educate the public about fire safety and to display the various rescue tools by various Fire Departments. A number of local fire departments took part in a friendly competition to showcase skills used to extricate patients from cars. The following videos were posted by Joe Brainard. It shows each round including the final round in which we came in second place behind Swanton Fire. It shows us crossing the finish line first but due to an equipment problem encountered by Swanton, there time was slightly faster than ours. We were nudged out by good competition and congrats goes out to Swanton. And congrats to all that came out. Your local departments received good training and great camaraderie.

The Positive Pressure Attack Debate

We will start the debate by featuring a series of three videos that will be showcasing the use of Positive Pressure Ventilation Attack in structure fires. The first, (below) will be a training fire from a Southfield MI Department. The second month will be a video from a Chicago High rise fire. The final month will feature a video news clip from the Toledo Fire Dept. on a recent Fire in Toledo. The jury is not yet out on this subject so your comments are always welcome at: http://perrysburgfiretraining.blogspot.com/
